Worship for September 20, 2020

Prayer for Preparing to Worship:

Gracious God, your Word surprises, challenges, upsets, and overturns our way of seeing and thinking.
Come and find us today wherever we are, however we are. By the power of your Holy Spirit,
help us see as you see, and thereby glimpse the kingdom you are bringing.
In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Welcome - Jeff Foels

Passing of the Peace

We encourage you to contact others in the church, to reach out and connect, to check in on those that might need help, and to let others know the help you need, in mind, body, and spirit, in this uncertain time.

Prayer of the Day: Shari Durdin

O God who knows our every need before we can even ask, you provide all our needs and some of our wants.

You bless us all. Make us truly thankful and empower us to bless others from the gifts you have given us,

for the glory of your name. Amen.

Scripture Reading: Exodus 16:9-15 - Shari Durdin

9Then Moses said to Aaron, “Say to the whole congregation of the Israelites, ‘Draw near to the Lord, for he has heard your complaining.’”

10And as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the Israelites, they looked toward the wilderness, and the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.

11The Lord spoke to Moses and said,

12“I have heard the complaining of the Israelites; say to them, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall have your fill of bread; then you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’” 13In the evening quails came up and covered the camp; and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. 14When the layer of dew lifted, there on the surface of the wilderness was a fine flaky substance, as fine as frost on the ground. 15When the Israelites saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.

Closing: Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Wherever you are, and wherever you go, hold this with you:

Be in the world in peace;

Have courage;

Hold onto what is good;

Return no one evil for evil;

Support the weak;

Help the suffering;

Honor all God’s children;

Love and serve the Lord,

Rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.

May God, who creates, redeems, and sustains, keep you steadfast in faith,

buoyant in hope, and abounding in love. And the blessing of God, Father, Son,

and Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always.

Alelluia! Amen.

God bless you while you stay steadfast in His Love!
