Worship for October 25, 2020 - Reformation Sunday

Prayer for Preparing to Worship:

Come, Holy Spirit, in the Word of God, as the breath of life,
amidst your people gathered here and everywhere,
into our hearts and minds.
Stir us to know the happiness of life in your blessings. Amen.

Welcome - Jeff Foels

Passing of the Peace

We encourage you to contact others in the church, to reach out and connect, to check in on those that might need help, and to let others know the help you need, in mind, body, and spirit, in this uncertain time.

Prayer of the Day: Jeff Foels

Most astounding God, you lead us through deserts and grant us safe crossings.

You save us from trouble and deliver us from distress.

You satisfy our hunger and quench our thirst with righteousness and mercy.

When we lose our way, you pull us back to you and overwhelm us with love.

Help us turn to you with praise and send us out into your world with courage. Amen.

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 31:31-34

31 The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah.

32 It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, says the Lord.

33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other, "Know the Lord," for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more.

Sermon: Rev. Dr. Rodger Nishioka

Closing: Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer
Pastor Jeff Foels

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Sending

Wherever you are, and wherever you go, hold this with you:

Be in the world in peace;

Have courage;

Hold onto what is good;

Return no one evil for evil;

Support the weak;

Help the suffering;

Honor all God’s children;

Love and serve the Lord,

Rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.

May God, who creates, redeems, and sustains, keep you steadfast in faith,

buoyant in hope, and abounding in love. And the blessing of God, Father, Son,

and Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always.

Alelluia! Amen.

God bless you while you stay steadfast in His Love!
