A Prayer for Preparing to Worship:

God of Grace, You have given us minds to know you, hearts to love you, and voices to sing your praise. Fill us with your Spirit, that we may celebrate your glory and worship you in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Call to Confession, Prayer of Confession, and Assurance of Pardon

When we pass through deep waters or go through times of testing, the lord our God is with us. With the confidence in God, our creator and redeemer, let us confess our sin.

O Lord our God, you call us to work for a world where all will be fed and have dignity, but we find ourselves distracted by our own desires. You call us to seek justice and peace, but we are too often satisfied with injustice and discord. You call us to bring liberty to the oppressed, but we do not insist on freedom for all. Forgive us, O Lord. Turn us to your will by the power of your Spirit, so that all may know your justice and peace; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Savior. Amen.

Through forgiveness in Christ, we are brought to new life. This is the good news of the gospel: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Amen.

First Scripture: 1 John 5:9-13 - Jeff Foels

9 If we receive human testimony, the testimony of God is greater; for this is the testimony of God that he has testified to his Son. 10Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony in their hearts. Those who do not believe in God have made him a liar by not believing in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

The word of the Lord, thanks be to God.

Prayer of the Day - Jeff Foels included Welcome Video

Almighty God, in Christ you have shown us the way, revealed to us your truth, and offered to us everlasting life.

Keep our eyes upon him, that we may see your path more clearly, know your truth more fully, and receive your life more abundantly; through Christ who dwells with you and the Holy Spirit in eternal glory. Amen.

Hymn: #847 Our Hope, Our Life
Hymn: PPC Worship

1 Our hope, our life are in the Lord,

the God we honor and confess.

Why crave renown or opulence?

They fade, those things we now possess.

2 Some flaunt their gold; some trust its power,

but what they cherish will decay;

and still the ransom for a soul

remains a price too great to pay.

3 Though wealth or learning may be ours,

or fame that spreads throughout the land,

the shackles of mortality

prevent so much that we have planned.

4 Beyond this age of shame and sham

we glimpse a better destiny:

the Lord will lift us free from death

to dwell in praise eternally.

Psalm 1:1-6

1   Happy are those

          who do not follow the advice of the wicked,

     or take the path that sinners tread,

          or sit in the seat of scoffers;

2   but their delight is in the law of the LORD,

          and on his law they meditate day and night.

3   They are like trees

          planted by streams of water,

     which yield their fruit in its season,

          and their leaves do not wither.

     In all that they do, they prosper.

4   The wicked are not so,

          but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

5   Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,

          nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

6   for the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,

          but the way of the wicked will perish.

Prayers of the People and The Lords Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Wherever you are, and wherever you go, hold this with you:

Be in the world in peace;

Have courage;

Hold onto what is good;

Return no one evil for evil;

Support the weak;

Help the suffering;

Honor all God’s children;

Love and serve the Lord,

Rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.

May God, who creates, redeems, and sustains, keep you steadfast in faith, buoyant in hope, and abounding in love. And the blessing of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. Amen.

Thank you for what you can give, joyfully, to God!
