Worship for June 14, 2020

A Prayer for Preparing to Worship:

Eternal God, You have called us to be members of one body.
Join with those who in all times and places have praised your name,
that, with one heart and mind, we may show the unity of your church,
and bring honor to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Passing of the Peace

We encourage you to contact others in the church,

to reach out and connect, to check in on those that might need help,

and to let others know the help you need, in mind, body, and spirit, in this uncertain time.

Opening Prayer and Scripture – Shari Durdin

Great and merciful God, who knows the sparrow and the lily by name,

tell us today the story of your knowledge of us. Assure us that the hours we spend

in this world are lived in your sight and in your care, to free us from anxiety and striving

and to rest in your benevolence; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Scripture Reading:

35Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues,
and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness.
36When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
37Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
38therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."

Second Reading: Psalm 146

1 Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
2 I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
   I will sing praises to my God all my life long.

3 Do not put your trust in princes,
   in mortals, in whom there is no help.
4 When their breath departs, they return to the earth;
   on that very day their plans perish.

5 Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
   whose hope is in the Lord their God,
6 who made heaven and earth,

the sea, and all that is in them;
who keeps faith for ever;
7   who executes justice for the oppressed;
   who gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets the prisoners free;
8   the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
   the Lord loves the righteous.
9 The Lord watches over the strangers;
   he upholds the orphan and the widow,
   but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

10 The Lord will reign for ever,
   your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Praise the Lord!

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Sending

Wherever you are, and wherever you go, hold this with you:

Be in the world in peace;

Have courage;

Hold onto what is good;

Return no one evil for evil;

Support the weak;

Help the suffering;

Honor all God’s children;

Love and serve the Lord,

Rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.

May God, who creates, redeems, and sustains, keep you steadfast in faith,

buoyant in hope, and abounding in love. And the blessing of God, Father, Son,

and Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always.

Alelluia! Amen.

God Bless and keep you all in His care!
