Fare for All Ministry
Fare for All is a cooperative purchasing system under the auspices of the Emergency Foodshelf Network which allows people to buy nutritious food at greatly reduced prices. PPC is now one of the Fare for All distribution sites in the Twin Cities area. Volunteers are needed to take orders, to pick up and package food (one Saturday per month), to call to remind people about their orders, to publicize the ministry. Youth Mission Work
The middle- and high-school youth group usually does an extended mission activity every summer. In 2009 they spent a week cleaning up flood damage in Iowa City. In 2010 they spent a week helping in a multitude of ways during the PC-USA's General Assembly held in downtown Minneapolis. If you are interested, please contact Allison Nahr, Director of Christian Formation, at allison@PlymouthPC.org, or either of the Mission elders listed above.
Scalpel at the Cross
Several PPC members volunteer with this Christian medical mission organization working in the Peruvian Amazon. For more information, check out the website, www.scalpelatthecross.org or contact Chad or Melonie Robran at mcrobran@comcast.net

Dear members,
This year as we move into Lent and also prepare for One Great Hour of Sharing, we can't help but be grateful for the ministries made possible by this church wide special offering.
From Detroit to Darfur, from Louisiana to Libya, those most in need are finding hope and help through the work of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, the Self-Development of People program and their partners in ministry. Our hearts are full of compassion, but our ears are full of whatever is on the mind of the media this week. In this environment, it becomes incredibly easy to forget the pain of those in trouble spots around the world like Haiti, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Japan and all the other places where poverty, disaster, and war cause displacement and suffering.
I say all this to remind you that this is why we at Plymouth Presbyterian Church give to One Great Hour of Sharing. This one time a year when we give our gifts, we know that staff in the three One Great Hour of Sharing programs will be listening to the cries of our sisters and brothers throughout the next year. And they will be responding for us in Christ's name to those cries. To new emergencies they will respond as they have in Haiti—immediately, directly and through our partners wherever the emergency occurs. But equally important, they will stay there long after the news cameras have moved elsewhere—stay there and help rebuild lives and communities on a firmer foundation. Feeding the hungry, helping people build up their own livelihoods, responding to disasters— these are all ways that One Great Hour of Sharing is changing lives, changing communities and changing the world.
These programs can only do so to the extent of our generosity. I challenge you to give strong consideration to doubling your gift to the offering. The offering will be received on Easter Sunday, April 24, and I hope that you will join Christians all across the country in opening their hearts to witness tangibly to the abundant love of God through One Great Hour of Sharing.
Sincerely, Kyle Larson and Chad Robran, Mission Commission Elders

During a Sunday in January, we stayed after the service and made 1,000 sandwiches for a local shelter. Thank you everyone, for your help and your donations!

The next time is set for Sunday, June 5th.
This congregation once again came through to help others. We delivered thirteen bags of food ($286.00) to IOCP for their holiday meals. We also delivered three checks from members of our congregation. Envelopes for this purpose are located on the Mission Commission bulletin board - just to the left of the entry to the first coat room.In 2011, we will continue to make the first Sunday of the month our food collection Sunday. However feel free to bring food any Sunday that is convenient for you or use the envelopes for check donations. The need is great, so even if you can only bring one can of vegetables or fruit or soup or whatever, it is most welcome. PPC has always been a caring church and with God's help, we will continue this trend in 2011. Thanks to all!
2011 Summer Mission Project -June 18-26 in Nashville, TN
We'll be working with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance once again to help with flood response. In early May 2010, more than 19 inches of rain fell, causing widespread historic flooding. Damage estimates have surpassed $1.9 billion. The death toll for Davidson County alone (where Nashville is located) is at 10.
The basic details:
1. Trip is open to rising 9th graders (this year's 8th graders) through graduating 12th graders.
2. Cost of the trip: $150 per person ($100 for each add'l family member)
3. Registration deadline is January 1, 2011. We are limited to the first 8 youth and 4 adults who register. After that, names will go on a waiting list if spots become available. The sooner you get your registration in, the better your chances are to have a guaranteed spot. Allison will work with PDA to try to secure extra spots if possible.
4. Fundraising will be done to cover the additional cost of $350 per person. All fundraising efforts go to benefit the entire group. Any costs not covered by registration fees and fundraising will need to be covered by the participants.
Information packets are available from Allison Nahr.

It is a creative and affordable program that has been helping families stretch their monthly food budgets in the tri-state area since 1986. Orders are taken at the previous distribution, or by phone. Fare For All allows people to pre-order packs of food at 30-50% off grocery store prices. Packs are priced between $12 - $20 for about 1 grocery bag full of food. Each pack varies; you can order a meat pack, vegetarian pack, family pack, light pack, or regular pack. Visit their website at: www.fareforall.org
